Christopher G. Brown is a named partner in the firm and has been litigating cases for 17 years. Since joining Begos Horgan & Brown in 2003, he has been involved in foreclosure defense matters and employment law issues.
Chris' day-to-day practice includes:
- Defending borrowers in foreclosure matters and foreclosure mediation
- Counseling borrowers in default on their mortgages
- Representing employees, officers and business co-owners and employers in employment matters
Chris received the attention of the legal and consumer press in 2008 for two groundbreaking judgments in which he took on and beat the mortgage industry in foreclosure matters. His work on foreclosure cases earned the firm the Connecticut Law Tribune's distinction of being named one of the "Dozen Who Made a Difference" in 2008. A sought-after speaker and resource on foreclosure matters, in 2009 Chris moderated a panel discussion of Current Issues in Mortgage Foreclosures in Los Angeles for the General, Solo and Small Firm Division of the American Bar Association, a program which the ABA rebroadcast to its members in 2010 for Continuing Legal Education credit. He has been featured prominently in both the legal and consumer press including the Connecticut Law Tribune, the Fairfield County Business Journal and the Commercial Record.
Prior to joining Begos Horgan & Brown, Chris was a sole practitioner and was formerly associated with Ford Marrin Esposito Witmeyer & Gleser, LLP. Chris was also a consultant with Law Audit Services, Inc. (now known as Allegient Systems, Inc.) helping insurers and other large purchasers of legal services control their costs.
In 2006, Chris was selected as winner in Fairfield County's "40 Under 40" competition. Chris and the other winners were singled out for their extraordinary leadership qualities, ongoing commitment to personal, professional development and outstanding professional accomplishments that made a significant impact on their businesses and the broader professional image of Fairfield County.
Chris participates in the following associations: Connecticut Bar Association (Litigation Section); New York State Bar Association (Commercial & Federal Litigation Section; Torts, Insurance & Compensation Section; and Trial Lawyers Section); American Bar Association (Litigation Section). He is admitted to practice law before the Connecticut and New York state and federal courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.
Chris received his legal education from St. John's University School of Law (J.D., cum laude) and did his undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. in Economics).
